LA Here We Come

This is another city that wasn't what we expected. They must glam it up for the movies quite a bit!

It is quite a dirty city and there is a lot of homeless people strewn all over the streets but they don't seem to bother you too much. The city itself is really spread out and there isn't an aweful lot of tall buildings but the transport system seems to be fairly good.

We stayed at a hostel again called the USA Hosel and this time it was well worth it. The people that ran the place were all young and all very lively and quite obviously loved what they did. There were plenty of daily activities and tours run out of the hostel itself for a portion of the price of the bigger companies and all that stay there are welcome to join in. The security there was really good and all rooms had their own lockers which you had to supply the padlock for. To enter the building you had to show you room key, which was a card, or they would not let you in so you knew that there would be no strangers waltzing in and helping themselves to your gear. The rooms (we were in a 6 bed mixed dorm) were very clean as were the bathrooms and the utilities were just as good. The fully functional kitchen was open all day every day (except whilst cleaning) and provided all you can cook and eat pancake mix for breakfast every morning until 10am and had plenty of storage space for all your food stuffs. Lables were provided so that your stuff would be left alone and surprisingly, it worked.
