We met quite a few people in the hostels on our travels, many of which we still keep in touch with now. It is handy meeting people from other countries and hitting it off because then you could also end up having somewhere to stay when you visit their country and so do they when they visit yours! Hostels are the only way to go if you are into networking and meeting new people, you just don't get the interaction at holels, especially with similar age groups.
This hostel was in a really good and central part of town and you could walk to almost everything, or at least to the transport if you couldn't be bothered to walk far.
